Sunrise Experience at Pidurangala Rock
A visitor to Sri Lanka may have 2 major sunrise experiences in the world. First one is the sunrise of Adam’s Peak and the second one is here at the top of the Pidurangala. You may enjoy the lighting up the valley of Sigiriya with the rise of the sun.
If you wish to watch the top sceneries of the sunrise, you have to reach the top before it happens. We recommend start hiking from the bottom before an hour of the predicted sunrise time of the day. Why we say that, you may take up to 30 to 40 minutes to climb to the top and it depends on your hiking ability.
And we also advice not to stop at Pidurangala ancient temple on the way to the top. Just keep it to the way down and continue climb to the top because stopping there will definitely a time consuming, if you wish to see sunrise.
Pidurangala Temple
This temple is at a halfway to the top of the Pidurangala Rock. You can see a ruined reclining Lord Buddha statue under a rock cave there. There is nothing to see more than some ruined rock walls and the reclining Buddha statue. You better to stop there on the way down.
